The goal was to add various native shrubs to the existing landscaping in the front, keeping it low maintenance to conserve water usage. A lawn had to be installed in the back because the tenants had a small child who would need a place to play. Overgrown shrubs were taken out, particularly ones which required lots of water. The number of plants in the remainder of the back was kept to a minimal.  Two small trees (Tristaniopsis Laurina 'Elegant') were added to provide some afternoon shade for the side with the Western exposure. Below is a list of some of the plants used.
